Custom Right Angle Prisms

Right angle prisms are one of the most commonly used optical prisms. They are designed with two perpendicular faces and one hypotenuse face, allowing them to reflect, deviate or redirect light paths in compact optical systems.

Depending on how the prism is used, a right angle prism can provide 90-degree beam deviation, 180-degree beam reflection or image inversion. It is widely used in laser systems, imaging devices, telescopes, microscopes and optical instruments.

BK7 and H-K9L are widely used for visible applications. Fused silica is suitable for UV and high-power laser systems. Sapphire is recommended for applications requiring high hardness and durability.

Coating Options

Right angle prisms can be supplied uncoated or coated according to optical requirements. AR coating improves transmission on entrance and exit faces. Reflective coating can be applied to the hypotenuse face when total internal reflection is not sufficient or when special wavelength performance is required.
