What Is a Cylindrical Lens?
A cylindrical lens has curvature in only one axis, which means it focuses or expands light in one direction only.
It is widely used for:
  Laser beam shaping (convert circular beam to elliptical beam)
  Laser line generation (with other optics like Powell prism)
  Anamorphic beam expansion
  Optical imaging in one axis

Plano-Convex Cylindrical (PCX): focus collimated beam into a line
